Retail Salesperson at Hendo’s Tools & Hire

About the role

We are a small trade-based hardware retail and equipment/car/truck hire business in Ulladulla. We are looking for a full-time (+1 Saturday per month) person to assist with retail customer service and stock management.

The Job

- Serve retail trade & hire customers (mostly tradies) using point of sale system (generate invoices & take payments)

- Order stock using online supplier portals, emails or a mobile scanner.

- Unload stock from courier deliveries and restock shelves. Tick off deliveries against invoices.

- Manage missing stock boxes, incorrect deliveries and back-ordered stock in conjunction with admin team.

- Serve hire customers (using hire specific software). This includes discussing hire requirements and equipment range, booking hires, collecting ID, taking payment, explaining terms and conditions of hire.

- If other staff are unavailable, the role will occasionally require lifting hire equipment into vehicles, demonstrating use of hire equipment, delivery of hire equipment, cleaning hire cars or filling vehicles with fuel.

Skill Sets Required

- Confidence speaking to customers (mainly tradies) and providing a welcoming and chatty retail shop environment. Ability to remember names & faces.

- Ability to extract information about a building task, job or hire project to work out exactly what fasteners/tools/equipment are required and how we can help the customer.

- Existing knowledge of power tools, hardware products or hire equipment is an advantage OR a willingness to learn our products. Since product knowledge is our primary service offering, we want someone who will ask questions to ensure we are providing accurate information to customers. Using tools and fastenings, building things, fixing things in your spare time or previous employment is an advantage.

- Confidence on a computer and the ability to learn 2 new software POS systems.

- Attention to detail (especially with numbers and codes) is essential as accuracy is required to correctly stock shelves.

- The ability to multi-task (you will have multiple things going on at once), prioritise jobs and take ownership of tasks to ensure their completion.

- Ability to lift 20kg (some of our stock is bulky and heavy)

- Drivers licence essential.
