Sunday October 20, 2024 • 8:00 am - 10:00 am
Uncle Phil Butler has always lived and worked here in the Shoalhaven. He is a proud man of Culture, having learnt from his Uncle Uncle Noel Butler who needs no introduction.
Currently, Uncle Phil is the Aboriginal Education Officer at St Mary’s School in Milton, where he works to embed Culture into the curriculum and inspire Indigenous and non-indigenous students to pay Respect and learn love of Country.
Take this gentle walk with Uncle Phil Butler to Burrill Lake Rock Shelter. This historical site is the second oldest recorded site in Australia! The shelter was the source of many tools and artefacts and helped confirm the longevity of Aboriginal occupation and Custodianship of this Country. These tools were dated to 20,000 + years.
Uncle Phil will share stories from his people, introduce you to this area’s rich history, answer questions and inspire you to look further at the incredible Cultural heritage we are lucky to be surrounded by.
